Prague to Jedovnice, Czech Republic

Tuesday & Wednesday

30th & 31st July, 2019

It turned out sleeping in the campsite carpark in Prague cost the same as on the actual pitches so we decided to use more facilities before leaving. The poolside cafe opened at 8am so we went over for breakfast, it was like we’d ruined the man’s life when we ordered the pancakes but reluctantly he made them for us.

From Prague we travelled towards Brno to another Czech campsite this time on a lake. We managed to keep our van cooler on this drive and the cloud was a welcome change for the journey.

Being a day ahead we decided to stay for two nights in Jedovnice. Food and drink is very cheap out of the major tourist towns in Czech Republic so eating out would make the two days very relaxing. An average £1 a pint in the many bars was also fun, drinking out was cheaper than the beers from our fridges from Tesco.

The campsite lake was good and a stone throw from our pitches. It had a wake board centre, paddle board hire and pedalos. Lucy nearly braved the water slide but after climbing the steep steps she chickened out and did the walk of shame. I even got my swimmers on and enjoyed a tow out from Lucy on the inflatable tyre, all was fun till she tried tipping me out!

The locals mostly use the site for mountain bikes, there was a constant stream of Lycra wearing families doing the Tour de France but on mountain bikes then in the evening a local rowing club arrived, they were seriously fit racing round the lake. I was exhausted just watching.

The Motorhome and caravan area was a free for all and for the majority of the time we had our own area but Dasvid must have looked welcoming because a crazy camper decided to park literally next to the Butlers I can only assume they were trying to use their shade.

On a whole it was a lovely campsite with full facilities, would definitely recommend.
