Lyon to Camargue (via Marseille), France

17 April 2017

A noisy camper neighbour’s engine woke us up in Lyon, but luckily it was not until we needed to get up anyway. After quick showers and use of the service points we blasted off, still heading South.

We decided that although Marseille did not look possible for a night stop over, it could be possible for a drive-by Hard Rock Cafe Hurricane glass purchase, so Marseille was put in the SatNav. As we approached Marseille the temperature rose and the sights improved, now we felt like we were on holiday 👍

A quick pit stop saw a Hurricane glass and Marseille plaque bagged then we headed for a coastal destination for the night.

Not far down the coast we found Camargue and a town called Saintes-Maries-de-la-mer, a great tourist town with flamingos, a bull ring, white horses and a beach. The first aire we found looked full so we drove on and after navigating the confusing entrance to the second aire, we found a space – there were actually quite a few spaces.

It was a short walk to the beach, shops and bars, where we ensured that we enjoyed our stay here.
