Giffaumont, France

Karrina’s Diary

April fools day saw us frantically load our van to the brim and prep our houses to be trashed by teenagers whilst we’re away before a mad dash to collect Lucy from school to try to make it round the M25 before rush hour.

We made it to the tunnel in an impressive 2.5 hours, a mere 2.5 hours early for our crossing. Luck was on our side and we managed an earlier crossing and made it to France just before dark.

Having kept a close eye on the weather it was decided we would go straight off piste and head south brunting the tolls to avoid wind and rain storms.

Luckily as Neil likes to plan ahead he knew of a stop over which would suit nicely, he had planned it for our August Trilogy Part 2 Tour. All I could think was how lucky it was that I did not include Rochefort on our new tour TShirts!

We quietly rolled into a nice free stopover in the Champagne region right next to a lake at 1am.  It was straight to bed for an early start to look round the lake before our mission to cross the alps in the morning.
